THE search is on to find a lucky Walsall lottery winner - as a quarter of a million pounds in prize money has been left unclaimed.

Officials at the National Lottery say a prize of £250,320.10 has yet to be claimed from a EuroMillions Lottery ticket which was purchased in the borough.

“We’re eager to find the mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings – this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life,” said a National Lottery spokesperson.

“We’re urging everyone who bought a EuroMillions ticket in this area to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.

“Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa – someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune!

“We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win.”

The winning ticket matched the five main numbers and one Lucky Star number in the EuroMillions draw on Friday, May 30.

On that date, the winning EuroMillions numbers were 5, 24, 27, 41, 45 and the Lucky Star numbers were 6 and 7.

Now the lucky ticket holder has until Wednesday, November 26 to claim their prize.

If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the prize claim deadline, then the prize money – plus all the interest it has generated – will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

To help jog EuroMillions players’ memories about what was happening at the time, football fans may remember that England played their final pre-World Cup home friendly against Peru on the same night as the EuroMillions draw.

The Three Lions eased past their South American opponents 3-0.

Away from sport, locals may have taken a trip to Birmingham’s Hippodrome to see a production of either Blood Brothers or One Man, Two Guvnors, both of which were playing at the time.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000.

This "mystery" winner should try and stay as much of a mystery as possible. Getting big-time, mega-celebrity publicity is often the worst mistake that winners make. Anyway, if you're interested, I have made up a little free and just-for-fun page which generates your own personal quick pick numbers. Who knows, it might work - you just never know your luck! As I say, it is free and just a bit of fun, so look out for VillaLibra Lucky Numbers if you want to see if you can locate it for yourself.
