Thursday, November 20, 2008, 00:00

AN IMPRESSIVE body of art work crafted by recreational students at Lichfield School of Art is on display at the city's library gallery.

The exhibition celebrates the progress and achievement made by beginners, intermediates and advanced recreational students at the school of art, which is part of Tamworth and Lichfield College.

Work on display includes calligraphy, ceramics, textiles, watercolours, drawing and painting, created by adult learners attending a range of recreational courses.

Councillor Bernard Derrick opened the exhibition at Lichfield Library Gallery last Tuesday, November 11.

Community recreational art lecturer Imogen Kilfoyle said: "Some of the work is in progress and shows the development of ideas and technical processes.

"The paintings and craft skills on display illustrate the importance and value held by recreational classes, including the pleasure gained by what the students have learnt and achieved through lifelong learning."

The exhibition is open to the public during library hours until Friday, November 28.
