Back Saddlers and Dons to share the spoils

Bill Esdaile has written for the Racing Post, Sportsman, Sporting Life and the Smart Gambler. He had a weekly column in the Daily Telegraph during the World Cup and has previewed major betting events for the Financial Times, Shares Magazine and the Business.

The Saddlers bounced back to form at Colchester United with an excellent performance in the 2-0 victory last Saturday.

They have shown they can compete with the best at home and on the road so far this season.

And for those of you who are feeling confident about their chances, Boylesports offer a best-priced 16/1 on Jimmy Mullen's side securing promotion to the Championship.

We were in the money last week as the only selection we tipped was to back the Saddlers win at 5/2 with Boylesports – and it came up trumps.

Roberto Di Matteo's MK Dons come up to the Banks's Stadium on Saturday and the Italian will be concerned that his club has never won at this ground in nine attempts.

The Saddlers faithful also have reason for concern, though, as the in-form Dons have won four of their last five games on the road, while Walsall have lost three of their past four home games.

The bookmakers cannot split these sides in the win market and it may just be that the draw at 12/5 is the value call to make.

The last three games between the sides at the Banks's have only seen two goals, with two goalless stalemates and one 1-1 draw.

Spread bettors should sell (bet lower) total goals at 2.5 with Sporting Index, while I wouldn't put exchange punters off laying over 2.5 goals at 5/6 on Betdaq.
