Busy town centre roads in Walsall have been closed this evening (Monday, September 11) after bricks fell from a building.

The incident has happened in Bridge Street, closing the road as well as Walsall Road.

Police confirmed officers attended the scene at 5pm and were asked to close the roads by West Midlands Fire Service to allow firefighters to get the platform in.

The fire service said the incident involved loose bricks which have fallen through skylights.

It is not yet known when the roads will be re opened.

National Express West Midlands confirmed bus services WA 51, X51, 77, 934 and 935 are all affected by the road closures.

A spokesperson said: "Bridge Street and Walsall Road are closed off by the fire brigade. The delay time is currently not available."
